Vote June 6 | 7am to 7pm Traceway Park

On June 6, 2023 from 7am to 7pm at Traceway Park a special vote will be held on the renewal of the 1% hotel tax for park maintenance that was previously passed in 2019 and is incurred by visitors to Clinton when they reserve a room at a hotel within the city.

Differing from the 2% restaurant tax for park improvements, the purpose of the 1% hotel tax is to maintain the infrastructure and maintenance of our parks which incur unforeseen expenses that are necessary for everyday use and safety after the yearly budget has been set.

Currently, the funds collected from the 1% hotel tax have been used in the following ways:

  • Installation of an Automated Entry Gate for Security at Robinson Park
  • Gate Maintenance, Building Repairs, and Security Upgrades at Brighton Park
  • Playground Equipment Repair at Lion's Club Park
  • Tree Removal, Fence and Driveway Repair at Towne Spring Park
  • Archery Project, Soccer Signage, Drainage, Soil Testing, and Tree Removal at Traceway Park

Although this list is not exhaustive, the above examples are indicative of the type of projects the 1% hotel tax is able to fund.
